In May, 2024 a tanker truck fire damaged an overpass on I-95, in one of the busiest traffic corridors in the Northeast, resulting in a record-setting demolition and rebuilding project that was notable for its speed and efficiency. Awarded the 2025 American Transportation Award by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, this major transportation infrastructure project utilized a 30% Pozzotive replacement concrete mix, ensuring an exceptionally long-lasting structure with greater resistance to road salts, sulfates and freeze/thaw cycles than conventional concrete. Over 70 tons of Pozzotive were used, saving 66 tons of CO2 and diverting 280,414 bottles from regional landfills.

Award-Winning Pozzotive Pozzlan
For the past 17 years, BuildingGreen has selected ten green building products that significantly improve upon standard “business-as-usual” practices. These products reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions, improve product life cycles, and have a net-positive impact on society and the environment. Pozzotive has now won this award twice!
Pozzotive also earned the United States EPA’s Environmental Quality Award in Region 2, the highest award given to the public by the USEPA.
Pozzotive was awarded the 2020 Environmental Sustainability Leadership Award, Private Sector, by the Northeast Recycling Council (NERC), a non-profit consortium of 11 states united for environmentally sustainable materials management.
Build With Strength, an initiative of the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA), awarded Pozzotive its 2023 Concrete Innovations Award for Innovative Products, recognizing its contribution toward improving the resilience, performance and sustainability of concrete. Pozzotive won this award again in 2024 for being a part of the newly-built New Canaan Library, a net-zero, sustainable building project in Connecticut.
